Bold Park Aquatic Centre City Beach reopened in Nov 2015 after getting a $12.25M redevelopment. It features a 10 lane outdoor heated pool, indoor “open air” lane and leisure pools, adventure playground, basketball court, bbqs and state of the art changeroom facitilies, including accessible and family change facilities.
The outdoor pool features ramp as well as step entry with 10 lanes and a good sizes leisure swim section for the kids to have splash around. The pool is heated to 27 deg, and it was perfect on the 36 day we visited!
Alongside the outdoor pool is little adventure playground and half court basketball court (so make sure you pack the basketball). There is a nice little shaded area between the playground and the pool and is a nice spot to set up if you can get a spot there.
The “inside” pool is a very cool design. I personally find indoor pools a bit stuffy, so this open air design is genius. You get the full benefit of full roof cover and protection from the sun but it’s open to air at both ends.
Inside is a walking lane pool with leisure play area, and a shallower leisure splash pool for the little ones. It has a beach entry that extends into the walking pool so it’s also accessible to all.
Nice littilies shallow splash pool for babies and toddlers
If you want to spend more time at Bold Park Aquatic Centre you are welcome to bring along some food and make use of the bbqs. They are located at the back of the indoor area and there is also a kitchen sink and running water here too.
You can also join in group fitness classes with a creche available for kids 8 weeks to 5 years, enrol in Bold Park Swim Academy or Vac Swim, join in all abilities programs or hold a birthday party here too.
A family entry to Bold Park is $18.50 and it’s open daily from early in the morning to the early evening (times vary in winter and summer and for different days of the week). See full cost, opening time and full facilities information on the Bold Park website. Also check the website for information on the school holiday inflatable obstacle course (small additional fee applies).
