Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous

Step back in time and wander with and learn about the creatures of the Cretaceous period at Dinosaur Discovery

Daily until January 28th, 2018

Stepback in time and enter the land of the dinosaurs at the Dinosaur Discovery:Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous exhibition currently running at the PerthConvention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) until January 2018.

As soon as you gothrough the entry cave, you are greeted by a massive Tyrannosaurus Rex. It isseriously impressive! It definitely set the scene for the exhibition and got myadrenaline pumping.

The exhibitionfeatures more than 23 moving, life-size animatronic models of the Cretaceousperiod, each with an information board full of dinosaur facts.

My favourite was the tinyfurry Polar dinosaurs, which I had never heard of or seen pictures of before. They were actually pretty cute.

In between thedinosaur displays are lots of interactive activities to participate in. Immerseyourself with the dinosaurs by standing in front of the interactive screen andwatch as dinosaurs roam past you.

You can colour in adinosaur, scan it, and have it displayed on the projector screen.

Become an archaeologist and dig for fossils in a large sandpit.

Cut out andcreate your own 3D paper model dinosaur.

Put on adinosaur tail, hatch out of an egg and go crawling through the tunnels aroundthe exhibition.

My kids loved following thefootprints on an interactive digital dinosaur track and finding out which dinosaur they were.

There is alsoa large electronic board game to play called Dino Strike, which we didn’t play, but it looked like fun.

At the end of the exhibit is a gift shop filled with lots and lots of dinosaur themed products.

If you visited the dinosaur display at the museum back in 2014, this years display is even bigger and better! The dinosaurs are very lifelike and can be scary for younger kids. My 1 year old was initially terrified of the dinosaurs (he warmed up to them as we progressed through the exhibit). Please keep this in mind if you are considering taking younger or sensitive kids.

Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous is open daily until 28 January 2018 from 10am to 5pm. I recommend allocating at least an hour to make your way through the exhibition. Get your tickets for your preferred day and entry time at www.museum.wa.gov.au
