Island Playground Elizabeth Quay Features: Water Play Features * Sensory Play * Nature Based Play * Toilets * Restaurants & Cafes Nearby
Island Playground Elizabeth Quay is a small playground but is packed with lots of fun features, and is a must do if you are spending the day exploring Perth city.
The main play structure is like a wooden fort and has a pirate theme with, rope climb, rope tunnel, a ringing bell and walk the plank. Its pretty challenging for most kids with three different levels to explore.
Spare clothes are a must at Island Playground Elizabeth Quay with not one but two water play features. The first is a ground level “creek” with dam walls that open and close.
The second water play features is an elevated trough with water that spills over the sides onto sand and rocks. Both are located under large umbrellas so are partly shaded.
There has been good consideration for nature play in the design of this playground with balancing logs alongside the water play features. The playground has also been landscaped beautifully with lots of plants and trees that will provide lots more shade in the future when they mature.
Shaded seating is located around the playground and The Island at EQ is located right alongside the playground with takeaway coffee from the Island Kiosk, or if you want to have a break from the sun you can dine in at the Island Brew House. Unisex toilets are located alongside the playground.
The BHP Water Park (closed Tuesdays) is located on the other side of Elizabeth Quay too so the kids can keep cool on a hot day here too.
If you are in the city Island Playground is worth the short walk down to Elizabeth Quay. You can get off the train at the Elizabeth Quay Train Station on the Joondalup / Mandurah line or catch the Blue Cat which will take you down there from the city centre. Don’t forget to bring some spare clothes and/or a towel.
How To Get There: (find Island Playground on the south east corner of Elizabeth Quay)
