Here are 40+ FREE things you must do with the kids in Perth with kids, before they grow up! All these things are free or entry by donation…. start ticking off your Perth Kids Bucket List this weekend or this school holidays!


Swim at the Lagoon Yanch ep

One of Perth’s most stunning beaches, with white sand and calm water protected by reef and the clearest, bluest water you have ever seen.  Perfect spot for snorkelling on a warm, sunny day!


Swim out to the Pontoons & Slides at Hillarys Boat Harbour or Coogee Beach

If your kids are strong enough swimmers, they will love swimming out to the pontoon, just off the main beach, for a slide into the water.


Climb a Dinosaur at Synergy Parkland Kings Park

Discover and climb on dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures.  Two great playgrounds here too, including the water mist forest.  Best suited to kids aged 5+


Climb the Tree Outside Mash Brewery & Supa Golf Swan Valley

This amazing tree at the front of the Mash Brewery has grown along the ground an is always crawling with kids of all ages enjoying some good old fashioned tree climbing fun.


Take on the Perth City Water Labyrinth – Water Maze

Make your way through the walls of water, and see if you can get to the other side without getting wet.


Climb to the Treetops at Naturescape Kings Park

Take the climb to tippity top of the trees and check out what the view is like of our native birds. At Naturescape you can also make a cubby house with sticks, wade in the creek and take on the ropes challenge.


Shoot the Water Cannons at the Ellenbrook Water Playground

Your kids will love this free water playground on a hot day, its a splash pad with sprays and water cannons – perfect for cooling off when the temperature is soaring!


See the Amazing Chocolate Display at Whistlers Chocolate in the Swan Valley

Sample some super yummy chocolate and enjoy a play out on the lawn after checking out the most amazing chocolate display you have every seen.


Skateboard or Scooter at Mirror Park Ocean Reef

They’ll get a boost of confidence as they ride up and down the bumps and ramps at this great skate park


Ride the Huge Slide at John Oldham Park Perth

Kids will love this super long slide at John Oldham Park just out of the Perth city.  This one is hard for even adults to resist!


Climb a Volcano and Watch It Erupt at Faulkner Park Belmont

This massive volcano has several slides attached to it, and “erupts” with steam every 10-15 mins with smoke (water mist) that sprays out the top .


Ride Around Jackadder Lake Woodlands

At just 1.2km long, the footpath around Jackadder Lake makes for a beautiful walk or ride for the whole family. Kids will love the fresh air and all the bird life, not to mention a play at the park after their bike ride.


Catch a Film at the Northbridge Piazza

Pull up a beanbag and watch one of the free family movies showing on the big screen in the Northbridge Piazza or join in the entertainment of the Piazzarama on the first Sunday of the month usually between Sept & May


Ride Around The Swan River Past Optus Stadium

Take advantage of the free parking at Crown Burswood, unload the bikes and make your way around the Swan River via Optus Stadium and then onto East Perth and back over the Matagarup Bridge. It’s a fun and very do-able 5.5km family bike ride.


See the Cannon Fired at the Fremantle Roundhouse

Check out the oldest building in WA, this old gaol building is free to enter daily, and they fire the cannons at 1pm – if you are lucky you might be the one chosen to trigger the shot!


Play Aboard a Pirate Ship at Heathcoate Reserve Applecross

Kids will love playing on this massive pirate ship playground, located up high looking over the beautiful Swan River. Probably one of the most picturesque locations along the Swan River in Perth.


Snorkel the Reef at Watermans Bay

This gorgeous little cove just below the Watermans Bay playground area is a great spot for young children to swim and have a go at snorkelling. The reef protects the area from waves as makes this a great spot for swimming and to check out the marine life


Climb Like Spider Man at Millet Park Innaloo or Fremantle Esplanade

If you kids love climbing they will love the massive space net Millet Park Innaloo AKA Spiderman Park – with one of the biggest space nets you have probably ever seen. There is also a great space net at Fremantle Esplanade.


Race Around the Track at Pitstop Playground Banksia Grove

Take along your bikes and scooters and race around the track.  Time their laps and record on the board.


Get Some Exercise with Dr Seuss at Kadidjiny Park Melville

Dr Seuss themed exercise stations located near fantastic fully fenced Dr Seuss themed playground


Cross the Bridge & Walk to the End of the Jetty at Swan Canning River Park

Walk over the freeway across the bridge and to the end of the jetty – you could even throw a line in and see what you get! Great spot for a splash in the river.


Ride the Flying Fox at Amberton Estate Eglinton

Before you get to Yanchep pull into this estate and have a go on the double cable flying fox – hard one for parents to resist too! Now with great cafe nearby too.


Splash Around at Hyde Park Water Playground North Perth

Keep cool at this fantastic FREE water playground near Perth city. You can also enjoy a walk around the lake and a play at the great playground here too. Water Playground runs Nov – April


Watch the Planes Take Off at Perth Airport and/or Jandakot Airport .

Pack a picnic lunch and watch the planes take off and land at Jandakot Airport or Perth Airport.

Walk Along the Tree Tops Kings Park

Enjoy a walk across the Lotterywest Federation Walkway that extends 620m through the Botanic Gardens and has presents great views of the city.

Walk through the beautiful gardens of the garden, bird & fish accessories store and see heaps of life size dinosaurs and other statues of animals and creatures.  You wont believe some of the characters you will find living in this garden.


Spend the Day at Whiteman Park Swan Valley

So much free stuff to do, free water playground (seasonal), massive playground, Revolutions Museum (by donation), dog park and more.


Uncover Dinosaur Bones at Bob Thompson Reserve Noranda and K ingsway Sporting Complex Playground

Head out on an palaeontologist’s adventure, take your spade and brush along and uncover dinosaur bones hidden beneath the surface of the playground.


Climb on Dinosaur Bones at Sir Walter Padbury Playground Thornlie

See and climb all over and sit on 4 giant dinosaur bones protruding from the sand in the playground area.


Fly a Plane at Lotterywest Family Area Ivey Watson Playground Kings Park

Jump in the plane start the engine and fly over Kings Park.  This great little plane is located within this huge mostly fenced playground (designed for under 5’s) and the kids will love exploring for hours.


Play Like A Pirate At The Shipwreck Galleries Fremantle

Dress up like a pirate, see and interact with all the pirate artifacts at this wonderful museum in Fremantle.


Take on the Ropes Challenge at Perry Lakes Reserve Floreat

Challenge the kids at this fantastic ropes challenge park – see if they can get from one end to the other without touching the ground.


Skateboard or Scooter at the Esplanade Youth Plaza

Kids will love riding their skateboard or scooter at one of Perth’s newest and largest skate parks. Lots of play features here too to challenge their co-ordination, balance and strength.


Climb up to the Fort at Variety Place Kings Park

Kids will love the new nature based play upgrade to Variety Place in Kings Park. They will especially love climbing to the highest point in this Fort located right up high and overlooks the whole playground.


Dress up like a Fire Fighter at the DFES Education & Heritage Centre Perth

Dress like a fire fighter, see a fire truck, ride the firemans pole and learn all about WA’s fire and emergency services past and present. Please note: this is closed over Dec / Jan holidays and is only open Tue-Thurs during the week.


Jump off the Jetty at Bicton Baths or Matilda Bay

Both Bicton Baths and Matilda Bay are beautiful shady Swan River swimmings spots, where kids can enjoy jumping off the jetty too.


Do the Treetop Walk at Centennial Park Gosnells

Check out this beautiful piece of nature with big playground nestled under a beautiful tree top walk


Bounce on the Trampolines at Calleya Park Banjup or Baldivis Parks

Bounce on these super cool trampolines built into the ground and these awesome new playgrounds


Conquer the Jungle Climb at The Village Wellard Playground

Climb the 7m tall jungle climb and slide back down. Bring along your scooters, skateboards and bikes, there is a bmx track and mini skate park here too.


Ride Your Scooter at She pherds Bush Reserve Park Kingsley

Fantastic little bike track with road markings, parking bays and a fuel pump to keep you going. Great way for kids to ride their small bikes or scooters safely and learn some road rules.


Put Your Riding Skills to the Test at A Perth Bike Track Skills Park

Get the full “road” experience without all the cars at one of these bike skills tracks across Perth


Explore the Tree Walk at Kwinana Adventure Park

Walk amongst the trees, some thought to be hundreds of years old at the magnificent Kwinana Adventure Park. You’ll also love the flying fox, nature play and splash pad that runs all year round.
