Piney Lakes Sensory Playground is located in Winthrop is the perfect play place for the little adventurer! The park underwent upgrades in 2016 & 2017 and reopened in June 2017.
The new playground area features sand, water and nature based play. Just note this playground area is located right alongside a lake – so there is open access to the waters edge. Kids will love this sand play feature with conveyor belt right alongside the big sand pit.
Pack the spare clothes, there is a fantastic water play feature where kids can pump the water onto a table and watch it flow down the trough into the creek that runs under the bridge.
We are completely loving the little concrete dome. It has tiny coloured “windows” so the light projects colours inside when the sun is shining.
There are lots of other play features including seesaw, balancing logs, spinning wheel and tee pee. There are also lots of lovely shady spots to sit and enjoy a snack and the sunshine.
The swing area was upgraded in Dec 2016, and includes new swings (including double toddler swing), all abilities swing with mirror, basket and a wheelchair accessible roundabout.
If you want to adventure from this area there is a long board walk that takes you to the amphitheatre playground area. The classic orange rings that run alongside the wooden ramp are still there too.
There are so many features at Piney Lakes Sensory Playground its a great place for parents and kids to explore together. You might also like to take a little bike or scooter or just walk along some of the footpaths and check out the water features and do a bit of nature exploring.
There is also a free disc golf course to the north of the sensory playground. This map of the course has been provided by Dude Discs. C lick for larger map
