Train Museum | Model Displays | Toilets | Picnic Area | BBQ | Small Playground | Open Sundays & Wednesdays | Railfest Event October | Kids Under 4 Enter Free | Recommended for Kids 2yrs+
The Rail Heritage Museum Bassendean has limited opening times, however it is worth your while going along when it is open on Sundays & Wednesdays (see hours at the end of this review).
If your child love trains they will love the Rail Heritage Museum. Its not just a look and see museum, it’s very interactive with lots of opportunity to climb aboard the amazingly preserved freight and passenger trains to see exactly what they used to look like. Many of the trains also have beds, bathrooms and toilets.
They can even climb into the drivers cabin of some of the trains to see what it was like to be a train driver of these trains.
Get behind the wheel of a big bus too.
They’ll also love this photo opportunity with Percy
There is a nice little picnic area with a Thomas train to climb on board and a small playground near this area also. Bring along a packed lunch as you’ll need some refreshments after jumping on and off trains for a couple of hours. You can use the free BBQ too, any time the museum is open.
There is also a dining car and buffet car with urn, fridge and microwave that you can book for an awesome authentic train party. Just contact the Rail Heritage Museum for more information and to book.
