It’s pretty hard to go to Singapore and not visit Singapore Zoo, one of Singapore’s most popular attractions located ~30kms from Singapore, and featuring not just a zoo experience, but a great water playground, play area, rides and more at KidzWorld.
Singapore Zoo is open every day of the year and is easily accessed by driving or getting a taxi. We are told you can get the MRT & Bus but you still have a bit of a walk to get to the zoo. Singapore Zoo is a large zoo, located on 26ha in the beautiful Mandai Forrest. There are more than 2800 representing 300 species of birds, mammals and reptiles that call Singapore Zoo home.
Singapore Zoo is well known for its interactive walk through experiences and viewing platforms that give a fascinating perspective on the animals. You can walk through the Australian Outback and see free roaming kangaroos or wander the spectacular Fragile Forest where flying foxes soar.
We were surprised to see little monkeys swinging from the treetops as we walked around, and especially loved the Frozen Tundra exhibit – where you can meet Inuka who is a locally born polar bear.
And of course we made sure we checked out the White Tiger – which is one of the star attractions at Singapore Zoo.
The rainforest surroundings have been maintained throughout the zoo and you’ll see animals from all around the world including giraffe’s and white rhinoceros – which you can buy food to feed at dedicated feeding times (shows & feeding section of the website, link below)
You can walk around the zoo, there are strollers and wagons for hire to help get the kids around or enjoy a guided tram tour for a small fee per person
And of course Singapore is warm and balmy all year round so the kids will love going to cool off at KidzWorld. Here there is a fantastic water playground and dry playground to keep them busy for hours.
Just be careful this raft feature is not far from the water playground and isn’t fenced off
While you are there you may also want to try to catch the Animal Friends show. We didn’t manage to see this during our visit, but the show is on daily at 11 & 4pm and features lots of very clever and very funny domestic animals, including cats, dogs and mice. Many of the pets in the show are rescued abandoned pets. The show is included in your entry fee and you can stay behind and get a picture with the stars of the show too. Just note there are rides at KidzWorld but you need to pay per person to ride them.
There are so many feedings and show to see during your visit that are included in your entry fee you really need to go to the Singapore Zoo website (link below) and plan our your day. Choose from the Elephants at Work & Play Show, Splash Safari Show, The Rainforest Fights Back Show and more.
In addition to entry to Singapore Zoo and the include shows and exhibits, you may choose to also go on one of safaris, but check out the Park Hopper Packages where you can purchase multiple entries and save. Choose from –
- The Night Safari
- The River Safari
- The Jurong Bird Park
There are also lots of special experiences you can enjoy in addition to your entry to Singapore Zoo. You can –
- Enjoy a Jungle Breakfast with Wildlife
- Go Behind the Scenes of Fragile Forest
- Go Behind the Scenes of Reptile Garden
- Even stay over night and join in a camp out
We highly recommend you put a visit to Singapore Zoo on your list of things to do in Singapore with kids. You’ll need at least half a day, possibly the whole day if you plan to visit the bird park or do a safari too.
