Tomato Lake Kewdale Features: Playgrounds * Lake Walk * Cafe (Open Wed-Sun) * Toilets * BBQs * Picnic Tables * Basketball Hoop * Dogs on a Lead Allowed * Exercise Stations
Tomato Lake Kewdale is just beautiful. It features a lovely circular lake walk with a jetty and viewing gazebo perched over the lake so you can stop and watch the bird life and just take in the stunning scenery. There is also a choice of three different playgrounds around the lake.
The main playground has something for everyone one. There is a small toddler play structure with small double slide. For the big kids there is a bigger slide, rope play equipment, a spinning wheel and more. Toilets and BBQs are located near the main playground.
And of course what is a playground without a swing. It’s located a little closer to the lake so its a great spot for kids to sit back and relax and take in the beautiful lake and spot some wildlife
For the big kids there is also a large climbing frame playground just a short walk from the main playground. You can also find a basketball hoop here too.
And an awesome fitness station with ninja rig and exercise stations not far from the climbing frame playground.
You really can’t come to Tomato Lake and not enjoy a walk around the lake. The walk is suitable for bikes, scooters and prams and is approximately 1.6km, so it’s should only take around 20mins.
In March 2020 another playground was added to the Tomato Lake Reserve and is located at the south end of the lake. Find more information about the Tomato Lake South Playground here.
The Tomato Lake Cafe is located right alongside the main playground making this a great place to enjoy a coffee or dine with kids. There is some dining and lots of tables and chairs outside too, so you can look over the lake while you dine or sit closer to the playground to supervise the kids. The Tomato Lake Cafe is open Wed – Sun 9-4pm. They serve light breakfast, lunch, snacks, hot & cold drinks and icecreams. If you have a dog, this is a great place to dine with your dog too, in the outdoor seating area.
Tomato Lake is a surprising slice of nature for Kewdale which is probably better know as an industrial area. Make sure you bring along scooter or bikes to enjoy a walk, and pack a picnic or enjoy something from the cafe – there are plenty of shady grassed areas around the lake to enjoy.
