Find Perth & WA beaches with pram and disabled accessibility features

Perth is steadily seeing an increase in accessibility features at its beaches. There are several Perth beaches that have access matting that allow easy access for mobility equipment, wheelchairs and prams close to the water. Matting is often in place seasonally and availability for use can be dependant on tide and weather activity. You can also find information here on how you can access free to use beach wheelchairs and beach walkers.

Trigg Beach

10 metre long matting is being trialled at Trigg Beach this Summer. Trigg Beach already has excellent access. As well as being right in front of the carpark that includes ACROD parking, only a short stroll from the amenities building that includes a universal access toilet facility. It also has a sealed pathway ramp and now also matting that makes access to the waters edge with wheelchairs, mobility equipment and prams easy.

Hillarys Boat Harbour

Access matting runs from the main access pathway right down to the water edge. Hillarys Boat Harbour also has ACROD parking and universal access toilet facilities. A free to use beach wheelchair that is suitable for children and adults with a disability is available at Hillarys Boat Harbour and can be booked via the City of Joondalup Facility Booking Office.

Mullaloo Beach

Mullaloo Beach has access matting from the main carpark beach entrance to the water’s edge. A free to use beach wheelchair that is suitable for children and adults with a disability is available at Mullaloo Beach and can be booked via the City of Joondalup Facility Booking Office.

Quinns Beach

The beach wheelchair at Quinns Beach is available to book from December to March. Booking information can be found at www.joondalup.wa.gov.au.

Yanchep Beach

The beach wheelchair at Yanchep Beach is available to book from December to March. Booking information can be found at www.joondalup.wa.gov.au.

City Beach

60 meters of access matting runs from the main pathway down to the waters edge at City Beach , right in front of the Surf Life Saving Club. There is also access matting at the north groin. The carpark includes ACROD parking and there are universal toilet and shower facilities available. A beach wheelchair is also available at City Beach and can be booked online via the Town of Cambridge website.

Cottesloe Beach

There are two beach wheelchairs available for loan October – April each year at the North Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club. Booking information can be found at www.cottesloe.wa.gov.au.

Port Coogee Marina

This calm beach is perfect for all abilities to enjoy with access matting from the sealed pathway ramp right down the waters edge. Port Coogee Marina (aka Ngarkal Beach) also has ACROD parking, accessible drink fountains, universal toilet and shower facilities. The Splash Park that runs seasonally on the foreshore is also universally accessible.

Coogee Beach

A beach wheelchair is available from the Coogee Beach Surf Life Saving Club. Booking information is found at www.cockburn.wa.gov.au .

Rockingham Beaches

There are several Rockingham beaches where you can find accessible matting from October to April each year. They include, the Rockingham Foreshore , Palm Beach , Governor Road Reserve, Bell Park and Phoebe Hymus Park . Accessible matting is also found at Singleton Foreshore all year round.

There are three types of beach wheelchair (all of which can be used in the water as well a on the beach) available for loan and are located at the Rockingham Visitors Centre, The Cruising Yacht Club and Seaside Camp for Children Inc. Two beach walkers are also available to loan and are available to book and pick up from the Mike Barnett Sports Complex and Aqua Jetty Warnbro. Mandurah

Beach matting is located at several Mandurah beaches including Madora Bay , Orion Street Silver Sands , Town Beach and Swimmers Beach during September to May. A beach wheelchair and a beach walker is available from Mandurah Ocean Marina Chalets. Bookings essential. More information including booking details available at www.mandurah.wa.gov.au.

South Perth Foreshore

A beach wheelchair is available for use at Sir James Mitchell Park ‘s foreshore beach and water areas. It’s located near the easy access Disable Parking Bays near the Scented Gardens Playground. The beach wheelchair can be accessed by obtaining a key from the Mister Walker Restaurant (open daily) at the Mends Street Jetty. Find more information at www.southperth.wa.gov.au.

Busselton

Two beach wheelchairs are available for loan at the Busselton Foreshore. More information including booking details can be found at www.busselton.wa.gov.au.

Dunsborough

A beach wheelchair is available to loan from the Quindalup Sea Rescue Centre. Booking are essential. More information including booking details can be found at www.busselton.wa.gov.au.

Margaret River

A beach wheelchair is available to loan from the Margaret River Recreation Centre from mid December to the end of April. Bookings are essential. More information including booking detail can be found at www.amrshire.wa.gov.au.

Albany

Beach wheelchairs are available for loan at both Middleton Beach and Emu Point. Access to any of the City’s beach wheelchairs is via South Coast Security’s 24hour mobile service on 0417 964 102. Beach access matting can also be found at Emu Point Beach. Find more information at www.albany.way.gov.au.

Exmouth

Three beach wheelchairs are available to book for free to allow those travelling to Exmouth to enjoy experiences with their families along the Ningaloo Coast. Two wheelchairs are located in the Cape Range National Park at the Milyering Discovery Centre and the other is located at the Coral Bay, Ningaloo Marine Park.
