Avocados Café islocated in Kelmscott just off Brookton Highway. It’s located alongside the Canning River and features beautiful garden dining with a kids playground and river views. My car GPS got a bit confusedwith the official address of 2 Mount St and tried to send me down a gravellaneway in the middle of nowhere. It’s actually very easy to find, keep a lookout for the “OPEN” trailer out on the highway.
Follow the arrowsfrom the carpark to the entrance of the café. We grabbed a menu from the barand chose a table outside right next to the playground and river. The location is absolutely amazing with lots oflarge trees and the picturesque gardens, all right next to the river. If youlook closely there are some dragonfly statues hovering above the river.
There are lots oftables to choose from, both inside and outside, to cater for any sort ofweather. There was even a cute small table nestled in the garden between sometrees.
The café has arelatively large menu, serving up breakfast (between 8am and 11am), lunch(between 11am – 4pm) and dinner on a Friday night (5:30pm – 8:30pm). We settled ongetting a bowl of cheesy bacon wedges and a strawberry milkshake to share andplaced our order back inside at the bar.
The smallplayground is fully fenced, which is good given that it’s right next to theriver. The kids were happy to play while we waited for our food to arrive.
We went on a week dayduring lunchtime, so the café was fairly quiet and our food arrived prettyquickly. Given the awesome location I’d expect it gets pretty busy on weekendsespecially if the weather is nice. I loved the laid back feel at Avocados café and that we were able to sit and eat outside. I can certainly see ourselves returning when the weather is warmer to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon here enjoying lunch and a few drinks.
