Bicton Baths Swan River

Bicton Baths! One of Perth's best Swan River swimming and picnic locations

Bicton Baths Features: Swimming * Playground * BBQ * Jettys * Popular spot for mussels *  Toilets * Showers * Suitable for Kayaking & Standup Paddleboarding * Dogs on a Lead on Footpaths Only

Bicton Baths is one of our favourite Swan River locations.  The water here is crystal clear, so it’s a beautiful spot for a swim and a picnic with the family. This is a great alternative to a day at the beach and is perfect for big and little kids alike.

On one side the beach area is semi enclosed with 3 lengths of jetty. The beach here is great for playing in the sand, swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, standup paddleboarding and of course jumping off the jetty.  The water is crystal clear, shallow and gradually gets deep enough towards the end to jump off the jetty (no diving permitted however).

This is a great spot for little kids and big kids with the shallow water and beautiful sandy beach. Big kids will love jumping off the jetty again and again too. The whole family can enjoy kayaking, canoeing or standup paddleboarding in the safety of the calm and shallow waters inside the jettys.

The kids also loved exploring the water – they found fish, rocks, shells and a starfish. This is also a popular spot for getting mussels too.

The Bicton Quarantine Park Playground is located up on top of a hill. You’ll have to get the kids out of the water if you want to head up here to cook a barbeque, but it’s a nice shady spot for a break from the water.

The beach on the other side of the jettys is also nice for swimming, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding too.

Only problem can be the parking, there aren’t many spaces in the carpark and there is no other designated parking, so if you plan to go, get there early to get a parking space. It’s a popular spot on a hot day. The carpark is located right along the foreshore though so it’s easy to access you picnic spot from your car if you can get yourself a space.

What to Bring: beach sand toys, inflatables, kayaks, standup paddleboards, picnic rug, food for a picnic or bbq, goggles or snorkelling gear.
