Chidley Point Reserve Mosman Park Features: Good Swimming Spot * BBQs * Picnic Shelters * Toilets * Dogs On The Lead Allowed
If you are looking for a Swan River spot for the family to enjoy a swim, bbq and just relax by the river you will love Chidley Point Reserve. The beach here is white and sandy and the water is crystal clear.
As the name suggests this is a point. So it is an L shaped beach with a cliff face at each end, so it’s nice and secluded. It’s a beautiful spot to have a bbq or bring down some fish and chips and eat them right along the river’s edge at the picnic shelter on the grassed area alongside the water’s edge.
As you approach Chidley Point Reserve Mosman Park the views are incredible. If you are lucky there are 6 parking bays at the bottom right near the beach, otherwise you need to park in the top carpark and wander down the steps. If you have lots of stuff it can be quite difficult to carry it all down the stairs so you may want to drive to the bottom and drop it off and reverse up the hill to park if there are no parking spots here.
We visited Chidley Point Reserve for a 10th Birthday party. They had an inflatable trampoline out on the water which was a hit with the kids. It’s a great spot for the kids to go kayaking or stand up paddle boarding too. It is located on a narrower section on of the river and has a channel running past it, so there are lots of large boats passing by which causes a few waves but it’s otherwise fairly calm. If you go kayaking it’s important to get the kids not to go past the channel marker – there is plenty of length along the beach for them to kayak parallel to the beach rather than going out deeper.
A lovely grassed area is located on one side with lots of shade, a picnic table and a bbq. This is where the automatic toilets are located too.
As you can see the water here is crystal clear and there is a rocky reef on one part of the beach. Bring along the goggles or snorkelling gear the kids will love exploring this little reef. There were a couple of people fishing and they seemed to be catching quite a few fish, so it seems to be a pretty active spot for marine life too.
If you are looking for somewhere to picnic, bbq, swim or enjoy some fish and chips along the Swan River we highly recommend Chidley Point Reserve Mosman Park it’s simply beautiful.
