@ Aloha Surfhouse Joondalup
Climbing Centre | Auto Belay | Birthday Parties | Cafe | Surf & Climb Package Available | Open Daily Til Late | Toddler Play Area
Clip ‘n Climb is located within the Aloha Surfhouse, is super fun, challenging yet easy to do and it’s guaranteed to wear your child out with 15 climbing challenges and two amp it up experiences. Best of all it’s so safe with each wall equipped with a TruBlue Auto Belay system, so kids can clip themselves on and go!
Because of the simplicity of the system, the briefing session is only a few minutes and parents are able to come onto the climbing floor to help kids put on their harness before the session. You are asked to come half an hour before so this can all be done before your session starts, so you’ll enjoy a full hour of climbing.
There are no age requirements for Clip ‘n Climb however kids under 100cm require a parent to help them clip on and off. Small harnesses that look they will fit kids as young as 2/3yrs are available. There are plenty of different challenges that range in difficulty so there is something for all ages to have a go, but to get the most out of your time at Clip ‘n Climb we suggest it is best suited to kids 4 years +. However if your child is a little younger and a real climber we are sure they will love it too.
It’s not just vertical climbs challenges, the Stairway to Heaven & the Twister require kids to jump and climb on different angles to complete the challenges.
You can also climb in the dark in the Dark Tower.
And not all the steps are stationary, try climbing The Orbital with the steps rotating as you try to climb higher.
You can challenge your friends to a race on the speed climb, or try to beat your last time. Start the timer as you leave then climb to the top to hit the stop timer button and check out your score on the way down.
If your kids are looking for an extra challenge add a turn on the “Leap of Faith” and/or “The Vertical Drop” to your climbing session (+$5 per person, per turn).
The “Leap of Faith” requires a full body harness to be fitted. We saw many a brave child attempt this one but freeze before getting onto the platform, so some patience is needed when waiting for a turn on this one, but if you have a little daredevil it’s very worth the extra small fee. You only get one go at this one due to the amount of time it takes to get each child through (and time for any rescues).
“The Vertical Drop” requires quite a bit of grip strength to hold on as you are winched 90 degrees to the top, you either loose your grip or let go and drop down and slide at high speed up the other end of the slide. Younger children may find it hard to hold on as they are winched up, but will find the thrill of giving it a go fun never the less. You are given two tries at this one.
You may want to enjoy a surf before or after your climb, you can book a Climb & Surf package via the website.
You may fancy booking your child’s next birthday party at Clip ‘n Climb Joondalup. The party package is very reasonable (minimum of 10 kids) and platters can be purchased also (information on the website – link below). Platters can be purchased even if you haven’t booked a party if you wanted to take a few kids for a smaller “party” you could also organise a platter to enjoy at the cafe afterwards.
If you have a toddler too young to participate there is a toddler play area and plenty of room for them to move around in the cafe area.
For parents with older independent children you can enjoy a coffee or something to eat from the cafe. There is seating near the Clip ‘n Climb course, a deck and seating alongside the surf pool as well as a large elevated viewing deck all within full view of the surf pool and Clip ‘n Climb course.
You can even get some retail therapy at Aloha Surfhouse with a cool surf shop in the cafe area.
We were very impressed with the overall Aloha Surfhouse and Clip ‘n Climb course. It’s big, fresh, fun, safe and the staff were friendly and super helpful. For $14 (kids under 100cm) & $20 (over 100cm) we think this is money well spent for a solid hour of fun, safe and challenging activity all year round. The centre is free to enter and observe, so even if you haven’t booked it’s worth popping in for a look or if you are looking for somewhere different to catch up and enjoy a coffee you can do that here too.
