Cockburn Central West Playground Features: Adventure Playground | Nature Based Play | Picnic Tables | BBQs | Toilets Nearby | Short Walk From Cockburn Train Station | Cafes Nearby
The Cockburn Central West Playground is located just a short walk over the wetlands boardwalk from the Cockburn ARC and is adventure plus for kids, with two distinct play sections.
The central feature of the playground is a tall teepee climbing frame with a net climb up through the middle and a different obstacle on each side. Be prepared to go up and rescue your little one if they decide to take on the main climb. It’s fun on the way up but it may be a different story coming down as I found out. I actually enjoyed having a climb up and I was able to help him get down on his own anyway.
Around the main climbing frame is some stepping stones, balancing logs, chin up bars, monkey bars and mounds to jump to and from. There is also a birds nest swing.
The long rock climbing wall was a bit hit too. Try to get from one end to the other and ring the bell along the way.
The second play section can be accessed by a tunnel or by climbing over the mound alongside the long enclosed slides.
On the other side is a large horizontal climbing net and kids can go back and forth between the two play areas through the tunnel or by climbing up to the top of the enclosed slides.
Bring the scooters along, there is a nice boardwalk that goes over the wetlands. There is open access to the wetlands so keep this in mind and supervise children closely.
If you would like to enjoy a picnic or bbq there is plenty of grassed are to lay out a picnic rug and picnic shelters and bbqs are located right alongside the tall climbing frame.
The nearest toilets are located at Cockburn ARC, where you will also find a cafe. There are several eateries across the road at Cockburn Central also. Access to the playground is from street parking on Midgegooroo Avenue or by walking over the boardwalk from the Cockburn ARC. Cockburn Central West Playground is just a short walk from the train station too, so you can turn your play into a train adventure.
The Cockburn Central West playground is perfect for adventurers who love to climb and makes a fun addition to your family visit to Cockburn ARC (if you have any energy left!)
