Craigie Bushland

Take the kids for a nature walk and get the full nature experience at the Craigie Bushland Quenda Reserve

Craigie Bushland Features: Bushwalk | Quenda Reserve | Dogs On Lead Outside Enclosure | No Dogs Inside Enclosure

Craigie Bushland is an absolute hidden treasure with an elevated entry down a large set of wooden stairs to the enclosed Quenda Reserve that features several walk trails through the most stunning bushland complete with educational signage and seating along the way.

We recommend parking at Addingham Street, and entering Craigie Bushland from here. This entrance takes you to the top of a set of wooden stairs that will take you down to the north / western corner of the Quenda enclosure. As you can see the view from the top of the stairs looking towards the hills and over the Craigie Bushland is stunning. If you love a good stair climb for exercise you will love these stairs, with several flights to get your heart racing and the amazing view as a bonus.

The stairs take you right to an entrance to the Quenda Reserve. The entry points are double gated. Make sure you close them behind you to ensure the Quenda cannot get out. Also look out for spiders as you open the gate, if they haven’t been opened in a while you may be disturbing a well established web. Dogs are prohibited within the Quenda Reserve Enclosure.

Inside the enclosure are some amazing walk trails some sealed pathways and some limestone compacted walk trails.

The trails are well sign posted and are circular in nature so you can enjoy a long walk around the reserve and back to your entry point. It’s a big reserve so you can enjoy a descent length nature walk through here.

You will find seating and signage with information about local flora and fauna throughout the reserve.

As you can see the bushland is absolutely stunning and a google search revealed some amazing wildflower photos taken in taken in this reserve during Spring. I didn’t spot any Quenda but it was the middle of the day, so this would make an amazing early evening night stalk, you may spot some Quenda active and searching for food at this time of the day.

We couldn’t find any information about bikes in the reserve however we don’t recommend them here. One because they are hard to bring down the steps entry (although there are other entrances to the reserve) and secondly because this is a Quenda reserve so it’s best to leave as little impact as possible during your visit.

These are another set of steps that lead down to the reserve from Lotus Court.

If you want to take the kids out for a free suburban self guided nature walk, Craigie Bushland is perfect. You won’t believe the beauty of this bushland area, it is well preserved and well cared for you will forget you are in the middle of suburbia.

Please only leave your footprints behind. Enjoy this area but remember this enclosure has been created to protect the Quenda that are currently classified as “near threatened”, so please let the Quenda be and stick to pathways to minimise your impact on the area. Also make sure you take plenty of water, this is a very large reserve so take enough water plus a bit extra for the time you plan to spend here.

How To Get There: Recommended parking Addingham Court or Lotus Close Craigie
