Dine at Dome Bassendean and you can enjoy a true WA historical train experience – by enjoying your meal in this fully restored and refurbished ARS 348 train carriage.
The train carriage is located in a lovely elevated position within the Dome and the Bassendean Shopping Village. It was pretty busy when we arrived right on lunch time. We wandered up and down the train carriage passage way a couple of times and a table became available for us to enjoy some lunch.
You can choose (pending availability of course) from table or booth dining and all seating is located on the window road side overlooking the Bassendean Oval. The dining areas suit about 4-6 people so it’s not suitable for large parties of people to dine together.
Of course like all Dome Cafes, here you can get some colouring in sheets and a pack of crayons for the kids to do some colouring in while they wait and during their meal. At each of the train carriage is a tv screen with a video playing with images of how the train carriage was restored. It is pretty amazing what has been done with this ARS 348 and it’s lovely to see it now find it’s home at Dome Bassendean.
At the end of the train you can head outside onto the small platform and look out over the Bassendean Village Shopping Centre outdoor area.
