Duyfken Pirate Ship Fremantle

Climb aboard and explore this awesome replica pirate ship - watch out for the pirates on board though!

Please note: The Duyfken is currently docked at AQWA until October 13th, 2019

You can check out the Duyfken 1606 Replica Pirate Ship in the Fremantle Fishing Harbour just behind Little Creatures (please note it is not always here as it is often away for sailing events).  We were lucky enough to get a gold coin tour today while the Araluen Fremantle Chilli Festival was on – and we can tell you this is a must do experience for any little pirate fan!

Normally there is a small fee for tours and you it’s recommended you check the sailing dates on their website before you go to make sure it will be there.  Also look out for gold coin days on their facebook page these are usually run during festivals in Fremantle.

The Duyfken is the first know ship to visit Australia, 164 years before Captain Cook – and in nearly 400 years later the Duyfken replica was built to share its story with Australia.

Once you are on board be prepared for the full pirate experience, this amazing replica is full of all its historical features and there are pirates on board to tell you all about the Duyfken and its features. There are lots of ropes, treasure boxes, cannons and best of all is the was climbing down underneath the Duyfken to see what was hidden beneath (younger children will need to be assisted to the bottom of the ship).

Underneath you can see where the pirates (crew) fire the cannons, stored their cargo and ate their dinner – this was definitely a highlight for my kids going up and down several times – you may even get to hold a pirates sword or gun!

The kids all got a little postcard at the end, and were talking about it all the way home. This is a unique opportunity, make sure you check it out while the Duyfken is still stationed in the Fremantle Fishing Harbour.

You can take prams down the walkway to the ship but you can’t take them on board.  You can however leave them at the shaded tent set up at the entry to the ship.
