Augusta is located on the south west tip of WA, and is approximately 320 kms from Perth.
The Hardy Inlet which feeds the Blackwood River is located just south of the Augusta town. it’s a beautiful spot for families to spend the day fishing, swimming, boating or kayaking.
The foreshore area is grassed and there are lots of shady trees to set up for the day under or grab one of the table & chairs to enjoy your lunch. The water is flat and is shallow for a long way out, so it’s great for kids to safely splash and swim.
It’s a great spot to do some fishing with the kids. The shallow, calm waters make it a safe place to fish also. We used blood worm and squid as bait to catch this little King George Whiting . We also threw in a some burlie to attract some action. Although this was the only catch for the day there were lots of nibbles and the kids thoroughly enjoyed their little fishing trip!
The kids had fun trying to catch some bait before fishing – they got a few tiny little fish but we got the bait from the general store across the road.
This spot is just up from the Hardy Inlet mouth – just east of the carpark
Hardy Inlet Fishing – Well known for black bream, whiting, silver bream, herring, and mulloway……www.margaretriver.com

The foreshore is all grassed and there are some beautiful shady spots under trees along the foreshore, where it would be easy to spend the day away with the family. There is a set of swings and near this is a particularly shading and beautiful spot not far from the carpark just under the hanging tree pictured. There is also a shower near the carpark so you can rinse off before getting back in the car.
There is a short jetty, also a great spot for some family fishing too!
Conveniently located along the foreshore is also Colourpatch Cafe & Restaurant where you can get beautiful fish and chips to eat on the foreshore. There is also a general store where you can get your bait and other supplies you need
Just across the road are bbq and toilet facilities
We didn’t have time to check it out on this occasion, but right across from the foreshore is also Augusta Mini Golf . This great little family fun centre has been here since 1970, and features mini golf, trampolines, slot cars, pool, foosball, air hockey and more. It’s open everyday in the school holidays, and only on the weekends outside of school holidays.
