Hillarys Boat Harbour Features: Safe Swimming * Pontoon * Showers * Toilets * Ice Cream * Cafe * Restaurants * Fun Park * Amusement Rides * Playground * BBQs Disabled/Pram Access to the Beach
Hillarys Boat Harbour, also known as Sorrento is located approximately 25mins drive from Perth and is located in the north west suburbs of Perth. It’s one of Perth’s best known family beaches, with a shaded playground right on the beach. There is so much to do and you can easily spend the day or night away here. Enjoy a swim in the marina, slide from the pontoons, have a BBQ, dine at one of the many cafes & restaurants, grab an icecream or froyo and so much more.
The Beach
The swimming area within the Marina is a great place to bring young kids for a swim as it is well protected. There are no waves and the shallow area gently inclines to the deeper area. There is also a pontoon with two slides about 50m off shore that older children and grown ups can swim out to. Everyone will love jumping of the jetty too. You’ll find some shade erected on the beach in summer, but if you want to set up camp right on the water’s edge make sure you bring your own small shade. BBQs are located on the grassed area near the beach if you want to enjoy a BBQ or picnic breakfast, lunch or dinner with your swim at the beach, with toilets and showers nearby too.
The Hillarys Boat Harbour beach features –
- Safe swimming area
- Pontoon with slides
- Jetty
- Toilets & Showers
- BBQs
- Grassed picnic areas
- Playground
- Disabled / Pram Beach Access
The playground is located right on the beach approximately 20m from the waters edge. It is better suited to younger children. It is shaded for most of the summer months, but the shade is usually removed in winter.
Hillarys Boat Harbour and the beach area can get very busy on a hot day, however the beach area is very large and even on the most popular days you shouldn’t have trouble finding somewhere set up and enjoy a swim. There is another swimming area just north, past the amusement rides. There are some grassed areas here too and it usually a little less crowded.
