Jurassic Creatures have made themselves home at Crown Pyramid Perth until April 30th, 2017. This is an interactive walk through experience families with young children will love – especially if they are fascinated by dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures.
As you wander in to enjoy your 2 and 1/2 hour session (session dates and times vary – see website link below for more information on session details) you find yourself immediately at the foot of a huge animatronic T-Rex and lots of other dinosaurs that move and roar as if they were real. Each dinosaur has a plaque with the name and information about the dinosaur, perfect for all those little dinosaur buffs passing through.
The prehistoric display doesn’t stop with dinosaurs. Wander over to the frozen tundra and meet lots of other prehistoric creatures as the “snow” falls down around you. This little guy was our favourite, covered in snow this little polar bear shivers away in the cold.
The kids will love spotting all the other creatures from “Ice Age” like Manny and DIego.
The action continues with various amusement rides. Enjoy bumper cars, dinosaur train, carousel and a little roller coaster. These rides are all included in the entry price.
There are also a few prehistoric themed inflatables to enjoy with a small inflatable for the little ones, a big dinosaur inflatable slide and an ice themed obstacle course style inflatable. These run in 5 min sessions so we found there wasn’t much wait time on these – and the kids certainly enjoyed having a few turns on these to burn off some energy. All the inflatables are include in the entry price.
When it’s time for some down time there are lots of crafts to choose from. Our boys loved these activities and did a couple of them twice! You can build your own wooden dinosaur, make a sand art dinosaur picture and put your Palaeontology skills to the test using a hammer and screw driver to chip away at your dinosaur egg to free the little dinosaur inside. All craft activities are included in the entry price.
At various times throughout your session the The Flintstones Live Show runs. This is included in the entry price. The show is very music and dancing dominated so it’s great for little ones who love to dance and sing, as they bring all the kids up to the front of the stage for the show. It didn’t hold the interest of my 10yo however so we recommend this show for the younger ones. The ride wait times are at lot less during show times so if you hear the show start and you don’t want to go along, this is a great time to hit the rides and inflatables.
If you are starting to feel a little peckish there is the Jurassic Cafe located within the Crown Pyramid, and you can get yourself a coffee or something to eat with hot dogs, chips, cool drinks etc available. There are some tables so you can sit and eat and enjoy some down time. Eftpos is available at the cafe.
There are also a couple of side show alley games. These are $5 a turn and kids can win from a range of prizes. Our son got 2 out of 3 balls in the dinosaurs mouth and won a Dino Dig kit that he was very happy with. Merchandise is also available to purchse including flashing dinosaur swords, dinosaur tails and more. There is no Eftpos at the merchandise store but there is an ATM located here.
All rides (except for the roller coaster), activities, exhibits and shows are under the roof of the big top at Crown Pyramid. The exhibits are all pram and disabled accessible. Between the exhibits, rides, inflatables, live show and craft activities you won’t have any problem enjoying the most of your 2 & 1/2 hour session. If you want to get something to eat before your session the Crown Food Hall is right in front of Crown Pyramid and includes a Noodle Box, McDonalds, Subway, Snax and Cotta. It does get very busy in the Food Hall however so don’t make the mistake we did expecting to grab something quickly, allow plenty of time before your session in case the Food Hall is busy.
