In the April School Holidays in 2018 Kalbarri finally got itself an awesome playground. The Kalbarri Nature Playground is perfectly located on the Kalbarri Murchison River Mouth Foreshore.

The playground was built by @natureplaygrounds and is made predominately with wood and natural materials. It features a few wooden forts that can be accessed by wooden ladders and rock climbing walls, with a twisty slide and a couple of lower side by side slides for the little ones.

There are two rock climbing walls, one with a vertical and horizontal wall for a real challenge.

The flying fox and swings were a few weeks from being installed when we visited in the April 2018 School Holidays (this was in fact the first day it was open!), so you’ll have to imagine these. The flying fox is access from the lower fort.

The playground also features a little climbing net and lots of nature based play features with balancing logs and rocks throughout the playground.

The cubby house under one of the forts was also a favourite.

The Kalbarri Nature Playground is located on the grassy foreshore, right alongside Chinaman’s Beach / The Murchison River Mouth, so it’s a lovely spot to enjoy a play and a swim. Toilets, BBQs, a water fountain and showers are all available here. The Kalbarri Tavern and cafes such as Angies Cafe are open for coffee, food, drinks and icecream right across the road.

A trip to Kalbarri now wouldn’t be complete with a play and a swim down on the Kalbarri foreshore. Sunset fish and chips, an after noon play after a meal at the Kalbarri tavern or an early morning swim, whatever it is, this is the spot to do it while in Kalbarri.
