Enjoy a resort style holiday without leaving Perth at Karrinyup Waters Resort, Gwelup (just 12kms north of Perth only minutes off the Mitchell Freeway). Whether you want a beautiful poolside cabin to get away from it all for the week or a weekend of “luxury” camping with the kids – Karrinyup Waters Resort has it all. For the kids there is are two playgrounds, pool (well two pools and one heated spa/pool) and a jumping pillow too. .
The pool area has a large pool with lap lanes separated by a shallow cross over (which the kids will love jumping off) into the casual swim area of the pool. The casual swim pool has little water sprays at it’s beach style entry which is perfect for babies and crawlers to splash around. There is a second lagoon type pool, and a smaller heated shallower pool / spa. The area around the pool has lots of lounges and umbrellas so you can enjoy the sun in the warmer months.
A large day bed area is available alongside the main leisure pool for some true resort style relaxing.
The resort playground is everything they need with a couple of slides, swings and a short rail flying fox. It’s right along the back of Lake Karrinyup so there are lots of ducks and swans here too. The playground has been partly fenced since this photo was taken also. The kids will love playing here in the evening while you cook the BBQ in the Camp Kitchen right alongside the playground. Another playground is also available at the Karrinyup Waters Cafe at the entry to the resort.
It was still under construction in October 2019 when we visited but this fantastic new wooden boat playground should be ready to enjoy as part of your stay too. It’s located between the above playground and the camp kitchen.
The jumping pillow has to be one the most unique features of this resort – I’m pretty sure you wont find one of these anywhere else in the heart of Perth – it’s hours of fun and located right across from the camp ground area.
Alongside the jumping pillow is a “parkour” play area with concrete blocks and tunnels to jump to and from or play in the sand underneath. Both the jumping pillow and parkour play area are well shaded with natural shade from surrouunding trees.
Depending on the type of getaway or stay you are after there is accommodation to suit your needs. If you have lots of relatives coming to town and you can’t accommodate them all at your home this is a great, affordable place for them to stay. There are a variety of self contained cabins to choose from that sleep 2 – 6 people.
If you have a caravan or camper trailer you can bring it along – there are powered and unpowered caravan sites available. If you are looking to keep it simple and you just want to pitch your tent there are powered and un-powered camping sites. The jumping pillow is just across the road from here.
There is a fully covered camp kitchen area near the camping ground. Here you will find several barbeques and seating. It’s well located over looking the lake and the playground is just to the left of the kitchen – so the kids can play while you cook.
You can also find several picnic shelters and BBQs around the grounds that are well lit at night.
On long weekends and during the school holidays Karrinyup Waters Resort organises additional activities and events, including amusement rides, inflatables and food trucks. Check out their facebook to find out what’s on this coming holidays or long weekend.

Bikes are permitted at Karrinyup Waters Resort as long as you abide by speed limits, so bring the family bikes or scooters they will love thefreedom of riding around the resort.
The only warning is that there are several bodies of openwater that do add to thenatural serenity at Karrinyup Waters Resort and they are beaming with wildlife. You will need to closely supervise your children at all times – or perhapsbook the poolside cabin if you have younger children this is well away from thelakes area.
Karrinyup Waters Resort is well located, close to GwelupShopping Centre, which has a Farmer Jacks and is also not far from Karrinyup ShoppingCentre. It’s also only a short drive to the beach or the city. You can access the freeway in minutes (from Karrinyup Rd) –so it’s a great place to stay for the night, weekend or longer either for youand your family or for visitors to Perth.
It’s the perfect place for visitors to Perth to stay or for an inner city stay cation. We can’t wait to do a bit of “camping” at Karrinyup WatersResort… lucky for us it’s only 5 mins drive from home.
