10 Things You Must Do With Kids In Kings Park

Kings Park is located just minutes drive from Perth City, and features a variety of parks & gardens as well as the most amazing views of our beautiful city.

There are so many things to do at Kings Park – whether you are looking for somewhere to take the kids for a play for a couple of hours or somewhere to spend the day, you wont believe how much Kings Park Perth has to offer. All these things to do are free, and open daily (unless otherwise stated)

#1 Climb to the Top of the Fort at Variety Place

Variety Place has just been upgraded and it is absolutely fantastic.  With mostly nature based play – the favourite feature with our boys is the climb to the top of the fort located within the play space.  Lots of shade around the playground, big grassed area, BBQ’s and picnic tables – makes Variety Place at Saw Avenue a great place to play for a few hours or spend the day.

#2 Climb a Dinosaur at Synergy Parkland

Huge Adventure Playground famous for its large prehistoric animals, including dinosaurs that live here. Kids will love climbing all over them and getting their photo taken with these life size dinosaurs and creatures.

#3 Walk to the top of DNA Tower

Climb to the highest point in Kings Park – look to the north east to the City and west to the Indian Ocean.

#4 Walk along the Treetops on the Lotterywest Federation Walkway

Feel what it’s like to walk amongst the tree tops and see beautiful views of our city too. Open 9-5pm daily.

#5 Fly the Plane at Ivey Watson Playground Lotterywest Family Area

Designed for kids under 6, this huge fully fenced (except for open entry/exit) playground features this great little plane and lots of other play features including a maze, pirate ship, slides, play structure, toddler play area and more.  There are plenty of grassed, shady areas for a picnic or enjoy a light meal at Sticky Beaks Cafe located within the playground.

#6 Make a Cubby House at Naturescape

Naturescape is a close to nature as you can get, close to Perth city.  Here they can use the branches to make their very own cubby house.  They can also wade in Paperbark Creek, balance on logs, make mud potions, climb to the treetops and take on the Rope Tangle.  Open Tuesday – Sunday, 9 to 4pm. Closed Mondays, all February, and various other public holidays. Make sure you plan your visit to find out the do’s and don’t s for Naturescape.

#7 Roll Down the Hills at the Botanical Gardens

Roll down the hills in the beautiful Botanic Gardens.  There is a stunning water feature here, and you can also enjoy a short walk around the water garden where you will see lots of beautiful flowers & plants and lots of bird life.

#8 See the Flame of Rememberance at the State Memorial

Play tribute to Australia’s War History and see the Flame of Rememberance.  Stunning views of our city from here and immaculate green lawns to run around on.

#9 Run Through the Mist Forest at Synergy Parkland

Take the spare clothes along – as it’s hard to resist a dash through the mist forest on the playground located on the island at Synergy Parkland.

#10 Find a Hidden Geocache Treasure

You’ll need the free Geochaching Intro App (available on Android & iPhone) and a device with an internet connection – find hidden treasures throughout Kings Park – we have found one each at DNA Tower & Synergy Parkland. Find further instructions and link to free app for geocaching here
