Mabel Talbot Park Jolimont Lake

A hidden gem with a nice little playground and lots of nature to enjoy

Mabel Talbot Park Jolimont Lake Features: Playgrounds | BBQs | Picnic Shelters | Water Fountain | Lake Walk | No Toilets

Mabel Talbot Park is one of those parks that if you didn’t know it was there you would never find it. It’s a hidden gem that is worth the visit for a quiet play and nature experience.

You can park on the various streets located around Mabel Talbot Park, but we parked at the Henderson Park clubrooms where there is a carpark, and it’s just a short walk from there to the playground areas.

The path around the lake is part compact limestone and part paved but suitable for scooters, small bikes or prams. It’s only about 500m’s around, if that, so it makes for a nice lake walk.

The playgrounds are located at opposite sides of the lake and both have seating and BBQ facilities.

The path around the lake connects the two playgrounds so you can enjoy having a play at each as you make your way around. Dogs are allowed on the lead and there is lots of grassed area in the park to run around or kick a ball too.

There are also a couple of viewing platforms and educational signs around the lake so you can observe and learn about the local wildlife.

The main playground is located close to the lake, but it has been fenced on the sides closest to the playground. This playground was installed in recent years and is well suited to younger children with some ground level play features and swings too.

BBQs and picnic shelters are available near both playgrounds. Toilets are located at Henderson Park but may only be open during sporting events. The Cambridge Street Cafe strip is only a short walk away if you want to enjoy a coffee or something to eat before or after your play.

If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a quiet play or gathering with friends, complete with a touch of nature, you will love Mabel Talbot Park at Jolimont Lake.
