Messy Tots Perth

All the mess you can make without any of the cleaning up at Messy Tots

6m – 5yrs * Classes in Kingsley & Joondalup * 5 and 10 Week Class Options * Trial Class

Messy Tots provides a range of messy play and sensory activities that children (6m – 5 years) are free to explore throughout the class. Classes are located in Kingsley and Joondalup during the week with Messy Tots owner Louise running the classes.

On arrival all the activities are set up. Each week features different activities so there are always new sensory experiences to explore. Children and parents / carers are asked to wear old clothes they don’t mind getting messy, because, well, getting messy is pretty much inevitable during a Messy Tots class.

Once children and parents arrive they can just get straight into the activities. There are no structured activities within the class, however Louise does float around and encourage children to join in activities by demonstrating some of the fun they can have at each messy activity station.

There are a great range of activities with a different sensory experience that children 6m (must be able to sit up) – 5years will love. During our visit there was non-toxic water based paint, water, playdoh, oats, straw, cake mix, sand, pine cones and more.  Some other materials used in this and other classes include foam, pasta, rice, lentils, dried beans, cereals, jelly, tapioca, cornflour, smelly essence and food colouring.  All materials used are edible and non toxic. If your child has an allergy you will be asked to declare this at registration.

The classes are held in secure rooms so you don’t need to worry about your kids running off. This means you can also enjoy talking with the other parents as you play with your child. It really is a great social experience for you and your child too.

The classes run for an hour which was just enough for many of the younger ones with their little brains and bodies getting a little tired from all the sensory stimulation. A couple of tubs of warm soapy water are set up at the end to give the kids a clean off, and there is plenty of room to lay out a change mat to help with changing your baby or child. No need to despair at the mess, Louise takes care of all the cleaning up at the end.

If you would love to get your child into a casual and fun class where they can explore and learn using all of their senses then we are sure you will both love Messy Tots. It’s also a great place to chat with other parents and socialise with other children. Please see the website under More Information below for class locations, costs and times – 5 or 10 Week Passes or Trial Class (Paid) available.

About Sensory Play

Research suggests that Sensory play is vital for your child’s all-round development, it is play that encourages children to use one or more of their senses.  Often referred to as “messy play”, sensory play focuses on stimulating the child’s sense of sight, sound, smell, touch, taste, balance, and movement.

About Messy Tots Owner Louise

Louise Couasnon is a married mother of an 8 year old gorgeous boy. Originally from London, she and her husband moved to Perth five years ago as they felt that Perth offered better living opportunities to take enjoy.

For the last 25 years she has been a fully-qualified child care worker in London. In addition to this, she is also a qualified First-Aid assistant and has a Working With Children clearance.
