Migrant Park Kelmscott

Enjoy a play at this historically relevant suburban playground

Migrant Park Kelmscott Features: Playground | Sensory Play | Nature Based Play | BBQs | Picnic Shelter | Seating | No Toilets | No Water Fountain

New in early 2019 this suburban playground offers a fun and compact soft fall surfaced playground on what is otherwise a fairly baron reserve. Stage 2 of this park is expected to commence in March 2019 which will see the installation of features to enhance the historical relevance of the park. Works are expected to be completed in June 2019.

A few street parking bays are available and there is a long footpath from the road that leads to the playground, as the ground surface around the playground is mostly sand, leaves and dried grass.

The playground features a customers shelter that provides excellent shade and protection from the elements, while still providing a good view of the playground. The picnic shelters holds historical reference as it represents the “Nissen Huts” that used to be located in the Migrant Camp located on this reserve in the 50’s and 60’s.

The main playground features several different entry points, with a small rock climbing wall, ladder and rope climb to enter the main structure and access the top of the big slide.

There’s plenty for little ones at the park too with a smaller and more easy to access slide.

Plus nature based and sensory play with balancing logs and a xylophone in the shady corner of the playground.

And my favourite little feature the cubby house with sand play table.

A BBQ is located near the picnic shelter, but there are no toilets and there is no water fountain. The playground is mostly in the sun and the surrounding dry grass and sand makes it pretty hot on a sunny day, so this one is recommended for a late afternoon or evening play, when more natural shade is likely to fall on the playground.
