Out with the old Mills Park and in with the new 24 hectares of Mills Park Beckenam. The City of Gosnells completed a massivereconstruction of Mills Park in Beckenham which was completed in May 2016. The new community hub now offers anassortment of sporting facilities, a community centre, a skate park and an allnew nature play space and walk trail. Fixa on Brix Cafe is also located alongside the play area.
The nature play spaceis quite large and spread out, and has been integrated into the existingwetlands and creek. There is something on offer at Mills Park for all ages.
The main feature of the nature park is the large wooden logand rope structure which also includes a slide. This structure is quitechallenging and may not be suitable for very young kids .
Younger kids arecatered for in the surrounding area with a smooth concrete slide, smaller logstructures, a basket swing and a hammock swing.
Near the community centre there is a sand and water playarea with some more basic wooden log structures.
Hidden away next to the water play area is a dual cable flyingfox. Great fun to be had by both kids and adults!
The park has aboardwalk that takes you in and around the wetlands, and next to and over thecreek. For the more adventurous there are wooden log steps to take you throughthe middle of the wetlands. There are lots of information boards throughout toteach you about the area.
Close by to thenature park are several shaded picnic tables as well as barbecues. The areaappears to have a lot of lighting and would make for the perfect place to havea picnic dinner and a late afternoon play.
There are lots of pathways and a skate park, so don’t forgetto bring along your scooter, bike or skateboard.
The community centre has toilets available including parent rooms, change rooms and showers, with additional toilets located at the skate park. Alongside the park is Fika on Brix Cafe and it’s open Tues – Sun for breakfast & lunch. The transformation of Mills Park is amazing and is a fantastic park for the whole community to enjoy.
