Ocean Park aquarium is located on Shark Bayroad, 8km south of Denham and 30km from Monkey Mia. The turnoff is clearlysignposted on the road and the entrance road is sealed, making it accessible toall vehicle types. It’s open daily 9am – 5pm daily (last tour 3.30pm).

Tours of the aquarium run regularly and are includedin the entry price. Tours take between 45mins – 1 hour and run continuously throughout the day. As soon as we had entered and paid, we were able to join inon a tour group that had just started. The aquarium is fairly small and thereare limited information boards, so I highly recommend joining in on a tourwhich are run by qualified marine scientists.

During the tour we were taken around eachof the aquarium tanks and given a very in-depth but entertaining talk on allthe different types of marine animals that can be found in the Shark Bay MarinePark. We saw Moray eels, lots of different fish, stonefish, a turtle, stingraysand of course Sharks!

The tour ends with a shark feeding at one of the largeoutside pools.  The tour guide feeds theshark with some fish on the end of a pole, which gets the shark coming out ofthe water. There is a bridge over the shark feeding so everyone has a chance toget a good, close up look at the shark and all of its teeth.

Each tour runs for between 45 minutes and 1 hour, and the sharks are fed hourly. My 4 year old struggled to listen for the entire tour, but my 6 year old loved it and absorbed lots of the information.

After the tour (or before) you can wanderaround the aquarium at your own pace. We found we had already spent so muchtime at each tank during the tour we had no need to go back and have anotherlook

There’s a café onsite, serving up delicious breakfasts, lunches, coffees and cake. The outdoor dining area has views over the water and is very casual and relaxed. We ordered coffee and cake after our tour, and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We liked the food so much, we came back later in the week just to have lunch (no entry fees to pay if you are just dining at the café). The cafe is open from 9am – 3pm daily.

This was one of the best tours I have been on. Ourtour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the Shark Baymarine wildlife and presented the information in an enjoyable way. If you arein the Shark Bayarea, I highly recommend having a look at Ocean Park Aquarium.
