We were lucky to get in on one of the special kids Perth flight simulator sessions in the July 2013 school holidays. As part of the City Playground Pass , we enjoyed a 10-15min flying session for just $15.
Parking was available in the street, or there are parking at the Aberdeen St carpark or Wilson carpark, Erirchetti Place, Northbridge.
The City Playground Pass Perth Flight Experience is recommended for around age 5+, however we were able to bring my 3yo along for free. He enjoyed sitting in the passenger seat however wasn’t too interested in having a go at flying the plane. Before we started, the kids received a quick talk about what we call the plane steering wheel – the steering yoke, and all the kids had to practice turning left and right and bringing the plane up and down.
Then in groups of about 4 we each had a turn at flying the plane under the guidance of the captain. My 7 yo son, not too keen when we arrived, was itching to have a turn as soon as we entered the cockpit. Each child had about 10 mins with the captain and learned how to turn ascend and descend the plane.
The kids thoroughly enjoyed it, this is truly a unique experience. To take advantage of the next special you will need to check the City Playground Pass each holidays to see if they have been accepted to be included.
