If you are looking for a hotel in Singapore thatis budget-friendly, can sleep a family of four and is in a great location, lookno further than the Robertson Quay hotel.
I’m going to be upfront – the Robertson Quayhotel is not fancy; the rooms are small and basic, there isn’t a luxuriouslobby and the 3 star rating on Google is pretty accurate. Normally, I probablywouldn’t bother writing a review for such an average hotel. However, beforegoing to Singapore while I was researching places to stay, I searched for hoursand hours to find a hotel that could fit the 5 of us (2 adults, 2 kids and aninfant), was close to Clarke Quay or Marina Bay and was within my budget ofless than $300 a night. For my hours of searching I came up with only a fewplaces that met 2 of the 3 criteria, and I was almost going to go above budgetjust to get something booked in, until I found the Robertson Quay hotel, whichticked all 3 criteria
One of the reasons I chose this hotel was becauseit offered interconnecting rooms with a double bed in one room and two singlebeds in the other, as well as providing a cot free of charge. This made it perfectfor our family of 5 to stay in. The rooms were pretty small, but given we spentmost of our days out exploring Singapore and were only in our rooms to sleep,it didn’t make much difference if we were in a small or large room. Both roomshad air conditioning (which is a must when in Singapore), a small bathroom withshower, TV, kettle, mini fridge and safe. One of the best parts of the room wasthe amazing view we had of the Singapore River and the Alkaff bridge.

Breakfast each morning was included as part ofour accommodation, which worked out very handy, as we found that most of thecafes and restaurants that were close by didn’t open until after 11am. Thebreakfast buffet on offer was fairly basic and included cereal, toast, eggs, chicken sausages, baked beans, fried rice, coffee and juice. Definitely not themost extensive buffet, and nothing to rave about, but it meant we could get thekids fed relatively effortlessly and ready for a day of exploring Singapore.
For a budget hotel, the Robertson Quay hotel isin a prime location. It is right on the Singapore River and just a short walkto the famous Clarke Quay with plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from.It is also only a short walk to the Fort Canning MRT train station if you arekeen to take public transport. We were also able to walk from the hotel all theway to Gardens by the Bay just by following the footpath along the river. Ourtaxi back from Gardens by the Bay was ~$10 and out to the zoo the next day was~$22 – all very affordable!

The hotel has free wifi, but we found it was slowand dropped out a lot (which in my experience is pretty typical for free hotelwifi). Instead we purchased a Singapore SIM card from the airport for $30 whichincluded a massive 100GB of data. Having the SIM made it a lot easier to getaround, as we then had access to taxi and uber apps as well as Google maps.
We didn’t get a chance to check it out, but thehotel also has an outdoor pool. We could partially see the pool from our roomwindow, and it looked very inviting.

All in all, I was very happy with our choice to stay at Robertson Quay hotel. It was within budget (and almost half the price of hotels just across the road), it had a fantastic location and it easily accommodated all 5 of us.
