If you are ever wondering what to do with the kids then Scitech is the answer.  It’s a fun way for kids and parents to play together – the best thing is the kids most likely wont realise they are actually learning about science while they are playing too!

Firstly – when you arrive you will see that the underground parking is ticketed. Parking is free , just drive through, grab your ticket and have them validate it when you enter Scitech.  You can also catch the train on the Fremantle Line to City West station and walk to Scitech.

When you first enter Scitech there is a toddler zone.  There is a wall building activitiy where kids use foam bricks, ramps & pulleys to pull down and rebuild the wall.  This is a hit everytime we go, and we seem to spend the first half a hour here before we look at anything else! Scitech has something for kids of all ages everyday.

scitechbuilder

The very popular wall building activity – using different angled ramps and pulleys to move these foam bricks around to demolish and rebuild the brick wall!  This is a permanent activity at Scitech

Here are some more of the activities in the main section of Scitech – some of these are permanent, however some activities are regularly changed so there is something new if you visit every few months.

Crank the handles to move the balls around these massive spiral towers!

scitechinnovation

Scitech also features lots of innovation themed activities. Pictured above is a ball that can be controlled on this tablet device. It’s pretty tricky trying to move the ball over the ramps.

There isn’t a cafe within Scitech – there are vending machines for coffee/tea & soft drinks, chocolates and chips. They take notes and coins, however ensure you take some change as the machines often run out of change so may not accept notes.  You can get change from the gift shop. You can to bring along your own food and drink along to Scitech to eat in the tables and chairs area alongside the vending machines. There is also Astro Cafe which is located just outside Scitech. If you want leave Scitech and return later just show your ticket purchase receipt to regain entry.

There are several shows during the day included in your entry – you can check show times when you arrive at the door they are also announced over the load speaker throughout the day. Just note with Horizon Shows in the Planetarium kids must be 4 years or over.
