The Shirley Strickland Reserve Ardross is a top class community activity hub and playground that makes the perfect space for families to hang out, play and be active together.
Upgraded in 2022, the City of Melville have done an amazing job of refurbishing this huge sporting reserve and community activity hub, with fantastic playground, sporting & activity facilities and quality amenties.
The main playground feature includes two tall wooden towers connected by a bridge with a big bright green slide down. There are various ways to access the tower with ladders, rope climbs and decks at each level. The playground is located under good natural shade.
Little ones don’t miss out with a low level wide concrete slide, talk tubes at the bottom of the towers, sensory play features, nature based play and swings at ground level also. There is ramp access to the top of the low slide and bottom of the towers so there is all abilities access to the sensory play equipment – including talk tubes.
Alongside the playground is a half basketball court and a little further up an outdoor gym and exercise equipment. The activity and sporting facilities make this a great place for the whole family young and old.
There is also a shared pathway (part boardwalk / part sealed) that goes right around the large sporting green spaces, so this also makes a good place to enjoy a walk and a scooter around the park with friends.
Picnic facilities, including bbqs and covered picnic tables are located between the playground and basketball court and close to the toilet and shower facilities. Water fountains are located near the basketball court and outdoor gym. Parking is free in the reserve carpark and surrounding street parking bays.
Westfield Booragoon Shopping Centre is only a short drive away if you are looking for somewhere to eat or enjoy a coffee before or after your play. Shirley Strickland Reserve is also a large sporting complex so you may be able to grab something to eat or drink from the canteen when it is open for sporting events.
Shirley Strickland Reserve Adross truly is a wonderful space for active families to enjoy an outing or a day out.
