If you’ve driven down south and not stopped at The Crooked Carrot in Myalup (just north of Bunbury) you have seriously missed out. It may add an hour onto your trip because this is not somewhere you stop for a quick stop but it is totally worth it, and will make your journey as well as your holiday or break something to remember.

You won’t believe your eyes as you wander the “backyard” looking for somewhere to eat. There is nature based play, tractors, toddler play, a large climbing cargo net, giant chess and even a restored Melbourne tram (random right?).

The whole premises is absolutely immaculate and everything has been thought of. There is a fantastic wooden adventure playground centred in the play area, that’s surrounded by nature based play with balancing logs and a dried creek bed to explore.

Big kids will also love climbing to the top of this huge rope net between two trees.

The little ones are not forgotten with their own adventure corner including sandpit, truck tyres, flower shaped blackboards, colourful balancing logs and lots more.

Fans of Mater and tractors will love all the old trucks and tractors lined up around the back fence. What an amazing collection of farming history.

Some backyard, farm themed musical play also features throughout the playground.

So what’s on the menu at The Crooked Carrot. Everything! From raw food to treats, and chips to fresh produce. There is something for everyone to enjoy whether you be dropping in to grab a coffee and treat for the road or dining in. There is an obvious focus on local South West produce which is awesome to see.

You can choose from indoor dining, which is nicely air conditioned. Alfresco dining which is complete with mist sprays in summer or outdoors in the sunshine. And there is plenty of dining room to choose from.

Laying out the picnic rug under one of the large trees was a popular option too, especially near the little kids play area.

Toilets are available in the outside area, high chairs are available and there is a baby change table in the disabled toilet to the front of the cafe. The back area is mostly fenced with just a small entrance at the front open. There is lots of parking including lots of caravan parking.

Don’t forget to take your souvenir family carrot portrait to share with friends while you are there.

Stop in on your way down south, or make this a road trip destination from Perth. It’s worth the drive to stay and play and enjoy a meal and make a day of it. It’s also worth a stop to break up your drive to wherever you are heading down south.
