The Great Escape Hillarys is probably best know for its water slides in summer.  But don’t discount The Great Escape Hillarys for something fun to do in winter too!

We first visited The Great Escape on a cool Saturday in winter, it had been raining and rain was threatening on the day but decided to risk it anyway, and we ended up staying for nearly 3 hours, the kids had a ball!

The good thing about The Great Escape Hillarys also, is that you receive a wristband so you can play, then head over to Hillarys for something to eat for lunch (or eat lunch at The Great Escape  Beach Club Cafe), or have a swim a the Hillarys Marina beach, then come back for some more fun.

Also spectators enter for free, so parents you don’t have to pay to go in to watch your kids…or you may want to choose to pay and have a go too!

You may also find that the rides are not manned when it is quiet, you just simply need to let one of the staff know your child would like to go on the ride and they are more than happy to operate it for you. There is something at The Great Escape for all kids 12m +.

Trampolines

Bouncy  Castle

Adventure Playground (u10’s only)

(Keep in mind there is not shade over the play area and the play equipment gets very hot during summer)

Carnival Rides – some rides kids need to be min 1.2m

Scary Putt – Mini Golf

Jungle Mountain (kids need to be min height 1.2m)

6D Cinema (no age restrictions but sounds and movements may scare young children)

Movies ~5 minutes long and run throughout the day

3 Large Tube Water Slides, seasonal Oct-Jun (for kids aged 6 years +, children 5 years and under must ride on the lap of an adult). Lines for the slides can be very long on weekends and warm summer days – expect wait times on these days

High Ropes (restricted to kids and adults with a reach of 1.9m+) The ropes also operate only at certain times and can be weather dependant, so contact The Great Escape to find out what time or if the ropes are operating on the day of your visit

There is plenty of shaded seating area for parents, so they can grab a coffee from the cafe and sit down to keep watch over the kids. The Beach Club Cafe located within The Great Escape is the perfect location to have a snack, lunch, icecream or a coffee.  It’s located alongside the waterslides so its a great place to sit while older children enjoy the slides and/or high ropes.

There cafe area provides beautiful views over the Hillarys Marina, and has a range of burgers, hot dogs, chips, salads and drinks.  The Great Escape is strictly NO alcohol.  There are also high chairs available for use in the cafe. The cafe is also a great place to head up and enjoy a break from the sun during summer while having a swim at the beach – even if you don’t use any of the attractions you can still enjoy the cafe.

Enjoying an icecream from the Beach Club Cafe

Keep your wristband on and head out to the beach for a swim and a slide from the pontoons

What to bring:

In winter a change of clothes and socks, although the staff did their best to wipe the rain off the rides, there were a couple of wet bottoms and feet initially.  Hats & sunscreen, you can still get burnt in winter and there isn’t much shade over the play features.

In summer – bathers & towels for kids over 6+ who are going on slides.  Hats & sunscreen as there isn’t much shade over the play features.

Cost: there are now packages for all dry rides & attractions, water slides only, dry rides only or kiddeez zone only, starting from $12.90pp, so you can choose something that suits your child.
