The Lighthouse Play Centre Alkimos is like no other play centre in Perth with a focus on bringing an outdoor play experience indoors. Whether it be rainy day or scorching hot summers day, The Lighthouse Play Centre is your go to for outdoor play fun in the comfort and safety of the indoors.

The centre has a very bright and fresh feel with a large open window at the front, large side window that lets lots of sunshine in and even real plants around the play and cafe area.

The kids certainly get an outdoor play experience with lots of play features you would find in an outdoor playground. The main lighthouse play structure is entered by a cargo net climb and includes another climb to get to the top lookout before sliding down into the wood chip area or into the ball pit.

In the wood chip area next to the big window is a bird nest swing which is a favourite feature in most outdoor playgrounds.

The ball pit was the favourite play feature. With a sea of blue balls and ropes to swing into the ball pit – the kids loved climbing up the lighthouse and sliding into the ball pit over and over again.

There is plenty for the little ones too, with a little cubby house complete with role play toys and small wooden play structure. While this area is for little kids we loved that this area isn’t segregated just for little kids, as the big kids really enjoyed getting involved in the role play with the little kids. It was so nice to watch them playing together – but please supervise big kids closely in these areas to ensure they are playing appropriately around younger children.

If you have a baby or crawler there is a little fenced play area with a lovely comfy lounge surrounding it.

The sandpits are also a fun spot for little ones to play. There are a couple of sand pit areas, one that surrounds a wooden boat and the other with sand play table with chain bucket and funnel. Staff are on hand armed with dust pans and brooms to make sure the sand stays in the sand pit. Around the sand pit are a couple of concrete bench seats

If you have a party to plan, consider The Lighthouse Play Centre to host your child’s party. They have 3 awesome party rooms with Minions, Underwater & Pirate themes.

The cafe features lots of yummy food, with healthy, gluten free and vegan options available and kids meals that include a cupcake or ice-cream for $12. The coffee is great with barista trained staff in the kitchen and we love the open window at the front, its a lovely spot to enjoy your coffee or meal and take in some fresh air. Plenty of high chairs are available and there is a unisex toilet with baby change table too.

The Lighthouse Play Centre is a great spot for a play all year round and is definitely a different and more natural play centre experience. It’s open Tuesday – Sunday (daily in the school holidays), is CARD ONLY and for safety reasons kids must wear shoes at all times. If Alkimos is a long drive for you we do recommend you call first to see how busy it is and if they are close to capacity, especially on weekends or in the holidays, to save disappointment.
