Dinner at The Local Shack (Joondalup, Scarborough, Hillarys, Mandurah and Forrestfield) is not just a family dining out experience, it’s family board game night too.
Not feeling like cooking one cold winter’s night we decided to head down to The Local Shack Scarborough for some dinner and boardgames. They are open daily early until late every night, so you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or just pop in for a light snack and drink. It was great that we could arrive early evening so we could eat dinner and get home at a decent hour being a school night.
It was nice and quiet when we arrived around 5pm, we picked booth seating and the kids were straight into the board games, with a game of Jenga up first. It is quite dark inside, but on a cold winter’s night it felt very warm and cosy with the dimmed lighting.
The kids then had a round of Guess Who and Connect 4 while I had a look through the menu to place our order. They don’t have a kids menu however I ordered sliders for the kids and asked for some of the ingredients that they didn’t like to be taken out. The sliders were a perfect size for the kids combined with a bucket of chips and a drink. I ordered the Big Kahuna burger for myself which was delicious and very filling.
It’s not just burgers you can order salads, pizza, steaks and they have an all day breakfast menu. You can also pop in for a coffee & something sweet. For the grown ups there is a wine, beer & cocktail menu too. Since our visit they have added kids meals to the menu, plus kids eat free every day and they have a different meal special each day (see menu and meal specials on the website linked below).
If you are looking for somewhere to head out with the kids for some quality old fashioned board game fun and dinner, leave the iPads at home and head to The Local Shack Scarborough, Joondalup, Hillarys, Mandurah and Forrestfield.
