We are lucky to live in a wonderful city that hosts so many free family friendly events, month after month. Here are the top FREE September Perth Family Events, so you can enjoy a day or night out with the family that won’t break the bank.
1st – 30th | Kings Park Festival
Join the world’s biggest celebration of Western Australian wildflowers in spectacular Kings Park and Botanic Garden. The Festival program will feature an extravaganza of events and activities for lovers of wildflowers, gardens, conservation, art, local culture and the beautiful natural landscapes of Western Australia. Most events are free but many require registrations so get in quick to avoid disappointment! Sunday 1st | Spring into Scavenge Cottesloe
Come get amongst the local, live music, beach cleaning, trash trading action and all round inspiring vibes to ditch single-use plastics! Beach trash becomes cash at the Scavenge that can be used to purchase pre-loved threads donated by the community. With 300 million tonnes of plastic produced annually and 8-13 million tonnes of rubbish flowing into our waterways every year, there’s a lot to be done. 9am – 1pm Cottesloe Beach. www.facebook.com/events
Friday 6th – Sunday 15th | Festiv Arty Collie
10 big days of family fun, with a talent show, art competition, arty and crafty workshops for children and adults, some fantastic new events, and a huge family street fair! This year’s theme is Bikes, Hikes & Trails, with a fabulous range of fun activities to get involved in. www.festivarty.com .
Saturday 7th | Picnic in the Park Tuart Hil
There will be a Teddy Bears picnic themed storytime put on by the staff from the Osborne Library, giant games, and lots of neighbours to meet! This will be in the hollow next to the new playground at Robinson Reserve, not on the Main Oval. 9am – 11am. https://www.facebook.com/events
Saturday 14th | Cubby Town Yanchep
Cubby Town returns for its third year, and will provide families with a wonderful opportunity to spend time together in nature. Build cubbies and forts, play with mud kitchens, create nature crafts and explore Yanchep National Park! Thanks to Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (Parks and Wildlife Services), entry into Yanchep National Park is FREE ! 10am – 2pm. Sunday 15th | Perth Wildcats and Perth Lynx Fan Day Northbridge
The ultimate opportunity to meet, get to know and interact with the entire Wildcats and Lynx playing squads in a relaxed, family-friendly environment! More info: www.wildcats.com.au
Sunday 15th | Perth City Farm Open Day
Perth City Farm is celebrating 25 years of influencing connected, sustainable lives by throwing an epic birthday party for our gorgeous community who have made it possible- that’s you! Join us for a fantastic day of connection, fun and retro quirkiness that includes fun for the kids with the Eco Faeries. Sunday 15th | Tails on the Trails Shelley
Enjoy either a 2km or 4km stroll along the Canning River (Dyarlgarro Beeliar) with your furry friend, followed by hours of fun and entertainment! With over 25 stallholders to check out, you’ll find a great variety of dog food and treats, dog toys and accessories and other dog service providers, as well as human food trucks, roving entertainment, live stage talks/shows and some very cute adoptables! 9am – 2pm. www.facebook.com/events
Sunday 22nd | Free Try Sailing Day Nedlands
Enjoy a FREE day of sailing with friends and family on one of our off the beach boats at Nedlands Yacht Club. Come along, get out on the water, get active and see how exciting sailing can be for all ages from 5 years. Registrations 9.30am. Sailing 10.30am – 1pm. www.facebook.com/events
Friday 27th | Port Kennedy Twilight Festival
Celebrating all things Rockingham with local market stalls, food vans, small businesses and performances from local dance schools & musician’s! Free (and low cost) kids activities. 5pm – 8pm. www.facebook.com/events
From Saturday 28th | Free School Holiday Shopping Centre Activities
