Whiteman Park is located in the popular Swan Valley region, just 30 mins drive north east of Perth. – and we think it’s one of the best value things to do in Perth! Entry to Whiteman Park is free, and there are lots of free things to do & cheap things to do, as well as the amazing Caversham Wildlife Park & several museums where entry fees apply. You may need to visit more than once to see it all, so here is a list of all the things you can do at Whiteman Park with your family.
Whiteman Park Water Playground
The Whiteman Park Water Playground is free to enter and is open seasonally from the October Holidays until the end of the April Holidays. between 10 & 5pm. It features a 30cm pool with fun water sprays to run under. There are shady shelters around the water playground. The Village East Playground is alongside the water playground and the Village Cafe is just across the tram track.
Village East Playground
Small but play feature packed playground alongside the Whiteman Park Water Playground (operates seasonally) and close to the Motor Museum and Village Cafe. The Village East Playground is located near picnic shelters, BBQs and toilets and is a lovely place to picnic and play during your visit to Whiteman Park.
Tram Rides
E njoy a ride on an original tram, they have been kept in their original condition so you get to see what it was like to ride a tram back in the day. The Tram starts at the Village Train Station, right near the water playground and across from the Village Cafe. It them goes up to Mussel Pool, back through the village up to the Village Junction Station and then back to Whiteman Village, every 30 mins. You’ll get some interesting Whiteman Park history information during your trip and you might get to see some kangaroos along the way too.
The trams are run by volunteers of the Perth Electric Tram Society and your ticket fees go toward the maintenance and running of these wonderfully preserved trams. We got off at the Village Junction Station and headed across the railway line to Revolutions Museum. Find tram running days and times and ticket costs at www.whitemanpark.com.au.
Revolutions Museum
Entry to the Revolutions Museum is by donation. It’s open daily (except for Chiristmas Day and Boxing Day). Look out for free activities during the school holidays.
Village West Playground
This mostly fenced playground is located under natural shade and shade sails and features lots of play features for all ages. Picnic facilities are located nearby so the Village West Playground is a good place to base yourself while exploring Whiteman Park. Shelters are available to book near the playground.
Pedal Play Go Kart Hire
By now you are probably figuring out Whiteman Park is a pretty big place. While you can drive around Whiteman Park, what’s more fun is getting around by go kart. Pedal Play hire single and multiple seat go karts so you can explore Whiteman Park as a family on four pedal powered wheels.
PIa’s Place All Abilities Playground
Fully fenced, all abilities adventure playground near the Mussel Pool Picnic Area, with the Guerrilla Hub Cafe alongside.
The Lolly Stop
The Lolly Stop is just a short walk from the playground and is a great place to grab a lolly treat and check out the range of gifts. Open Saturdays, Sundays, School Holidays and Public Holidays (closed Christmas Day), 11am – 3pm.
Whiteman Park Dog Park
Located near Mussel Pool, the dog exercise area is fully fenced, has obstacles, water troughs, lots of shade and seating. There is also a separately fenced small dog area. Dogs are welcome throughout Whiteman Park but must be kept on a lead outside of the Whiteman Park Dog Park area.
Tractor Museum
Entry is by donation, see dozens of relics from WA’s agricultural history on display. Find open days and times at www.whitemanpark.com.au.
Motor Museum
From the horse drawn day to the present, Motor displays across this timespan. Find more information on open days, times and entry fees at www.motormuseumwa.com.au.
Caversham Wildlife Park
Have a photo with a koala, feed a kangaroo, catch a keeper talk, or enjoy two great hands on shows included in the entry fee to Caversham Wildlife Park . Find more information entry days and times and ticket prices at www.cavershamwildlife.com.au.
Bennett Brook Railway
Enjoy a scenic trip on a steam or diesel train – from Village Junction Station, just a short walk from Whiteman Village. Note: trains do not run on higher fire danger days. Find more information on train run days and and times and ticket prices at www.bbr.org.au.
Children’s Forest
Halfway between Whiteman Village and Mussel Pool, explore the many wonders of the forest including giant marching ants, colourful birds, peeking possums, a life size Wedge Tail Eagle’s nest made of steel and the for guardian’s. Village Cafe
Village Cafe is located across from the Whiteman Park Water Playground and is a beautiful cafe that’s perfect for enjoying breakfast or lunch or just a coffee and a treat while you are visiting Whiteman Park.
Woylie Walks Woodland Reserve
Friday nights between Sept and May enjoy learning about the critically endangered Woylie at the Woodland Reserve Woylie Walk Tour. Check the Whiteman Park events page for school holiday Kids Woylie Walks too.
You can get around the park by driving, catching the tram, hiring a go kart, walking or riding your bikes or scooters. The distance between Mussel Pool and Whiteman Village is just over 1km and makes a nice family ride – so you might like to bring your bikes and along. There are so many things to do at Whiteman Park you’ll need to visit a few times to see and do it all.
