Yallingup Maze, located approx 25 mins drive from Margaret River town towards Dunsborough – and is so much more than just a maze, the kids will love playing for hours!
The maze itself has 4 viewing platforms and there are a few challenges ranging from easy to hard. The ultimate challenge is to find your want from viewing platform 1, to platform 2, then 3, then 4 in order. There are stairs leading up to this platform and the maze walkways are very narrow so it’s not recommended that you take a pram and wheelchair access is limited.
Tip! There are a couple of big doors that look like walls, make sure you give the walls a little push if you find yourself going around in circles.
The maze takes about 30-40mins dependant on the challenges you attempt – and you can go in and out of the maze all day once you have paid your entry fee and got your wristband.
If you don’t feel like doing the maze, you can use the cafe, playground, nature playground free, and bouncy castle can be used for a donation to the selected local charity. The cafe area is a great place to enjoy a light meal or a coffe & cake, while the kids play around, parents can enjoy a beer, wine or cider too within the cafe area – or you can take your meal down to the nature play area and enjoy a picnic.
They have a great selection of foods, cakes, ice creams (including Simmo’s ice-cream tubs), drinks (including beer, wine and cider for the grown ups) and I love that they have a little kids size milkshake – it’s about half the size of a regular milkshake)
There are heaps of table and floor games & puzzles too – so it’s a great spot to have some lunch or enjoy a coffee & cake – even when it’s raining, there is plenty of room indoors, and part of the outdoor dining area is covered.
Our favourite feature was this amazing nature play area – it has cut logs and branches strategically placed around the area so kids can climb and leap frog from one log to another. There is also a large tree that lays horizontal to the ground that the kids can climb all the way over, and it has a little rope swing at the bottom too. There is a dam nearby the nature play area – so ensure children are supervised closely in this area at all times near this area.
If you are just driving by and stop in for a picnic in this area, please donate generously into the nominated local cause, all donations are welcomed from all visitors to the Yallingup Maze. You can find a tin to make your donation up in the cafe area – or just ask the staff how you can donate
Lastly, dogs are not allowed at Yallingup Maze. When we visited they allowed dogs in the carpark and could provide them with water there, but they aren’t allowed on the grounds.
If you are in Margaret River and you are looking for a great place for the kids to run and around and explore, while you enjoy a a meal or a coffee, the whole family will love the Yallingup Maze. It’s also a great place to enjoy a meal and some table or floor games rain, hail or shine!
