York! Head to York with the kids for a day out of the city, you'll be surprised!

York is located approx 97kms east of Perth, and is around a 1 1/2 drive from Perth, making it the perfect place for a day trip out of Perth city or for an overnighter.

Parks & Playrounds

Avon Park

Just one street down, and an easy walk from the main street, Avon Park is located along the Avon River and features a nice little playground and a swinging bridge that takes you across the other side of the river.  There are bbq’s and toilets here – and if you have an RV or caravan, you can actually stay here and hook up to the power for 24 hours (no cost), so it makes a great spot to come and stay the night.

Also consider a visit to Gwambygine Ascent (10kms south of York along the Great Southern Hwy), there is an adventure playground, toilets, barbeques and nature walk.

Cafes

The Flour Mill Cafe

Located just a few minutes walk, from the main street on Henrietta St.  This beautiful cafe that sits at the base of the historic towns flour mill, built in 1892.

There is a kids play area where with a concrete slide featuring dolphins up the stairs, old wooden swing, wooden climb platform and a cubby house. There’s lots of room for them to run around, high chairs, kids meals and indoor, outdoor or alfresco dining, so it’s the perfect place for breakfast, lunch or coffee & a cake, all year round.

Check out The Book Nook, operated by Pert’s Pantry just across from the toliets here.  The kids got heaps of books and magazines between 10c & $3 to read on the way home. Attractions

York Icecream Co

The York Icecream Co is located about 3km off the main road about 10 mins before your reach the York Town, at the York Olive Oil Company. It makes a good stop once you are on your way home, here there is a little playground too. Open Sat, Sun and Public Holidays

PetTeet Park

Visit the animals, wander through the canola fields and enjoy something from the Park Cafe. There is also a bouncy castle and play area for the kids. Open Saturdays and Sundays.
