Zamia Trail Bold Park Features: 5km Nature Walk (1km Ocean Lookout Option) | No Bikes Permitted | Dogs Allowed on the Lead
The Zamia Trail Bold Park is a family friendly 5.1km loop walk that features beauitful views of both the ocean and Perth city. There are lots of trails through Bold Park however the Zamia Trail is the longest one and it interconnects with many of the other trails.
The best place to start this walk is at the Reabold Hill Carpark (see map below) if possible. There are only a handful of parking bays here, so it can be difficult to score a parking spot here on the weekends and other busy times. If you can’t get a spot here, the next best parking is at the Tuart Trail Carpark just off Perry Lakes Drive (see map below). This will add an extra kilometre or so to your walk, but it’s a lovely scenic walk to the start of the Zamia Trail.
If the full 5.1km loop walk is a little too long, the 1km or so return walk from the Reabold Hill Carpark to the Ocean Views Lookout is well worth the walk. The Ocean Views lookout is well signed from the Zamia Trail.
The Ocean Views Lookout is a lovely spot to enjoy a packed snack, climb a tree and enjoy the incredible views of the coastline. With just a short walk from the Reabold Hill, carpark it’s a good spot to visit in the late afternoon to catch a spectacular Perth sunset too. There is a park bench here but no rubbish bins, so make sure you bring along a bag to take your rubbish with you.
The rest of the walk is very scenic with Banksia and Tuart trees and lots of wildflowers to see (during the wildflower season). The track is suitable for most fitness levels, has a few challenging inclines but has a well compacted pathway all the way around. Bikes are not allowed on the Zamia Trail, however the surface is suitable for a buggy / all terrain prams. Your family dog is welcome to join you on this walk as long as they are on the lead.
We also recommend you wander up to the Reabold Hill Summit Lookout before getting back into your car. It’s only a short return walk from the Reabold Hill Carpark and the view of the city and over the surrounding bushland area area amazing here. This is another great place to catch a sunset with a large sheltered seating area a the top of the lookout.
If you are looking for a good family friendly hike without having to leave the city then you will love the Zamia Trail in Bold Park. Its easy to access, has a shorter walk to the Ocean View Lookout and is suitable for most abilities and is a pram friendly trail. After your walk you may be interested in dining nearby at V Burger Bar or Someday Coffee Co Floreat .
