The Lakeview Cafe is located in the Waldecks Kingsley Nursery, and features a beautiful garden setting and play area, making it the perfect place for a coffee and a play or to enjoy breakfast or a light lunch. In August 2016 it got a bit of an upgrade with astro turf laid underneath the playground and paving underneath the outdoor tables around the playground.
The play area is located outside in a beautiful garden setting surrounded by the nursery plants. It’s has good natural shading with tables and chairs around the play area. Younger children may need assistance with this playground as it’s quite high with ladder entry, so it’s recommended for kids around 2 years +.
The kids will love having playing on all the little stone elephant statues, which they are allowed to sit on – this makes for some great photo opportuniies. There is plenty of room to run around so it really is a lovely place to enjoy a coffee and have something to eat.
If it’s raining there is indoor and alfresco dining also that overlooks the nursery. The dining area is very spacious so there is plenty of room for prams. High chairs are available and a baby change table is located in the toilets.
Food is served daily from 8.30-3pm and you can enjoy coffee and ready made slices and cakes until 4pm daily. The cafe serves a beautiful Devonshire tea, so it’s a nice place to take the grandparents too. My son’s great grandmother joined us on our visit and thoroughly enjoyed it.
There are several kids meals to choose for around $10, breakfast is served until 11am with a kids breakfast on the menu. Lunch meals are mostly under $20 with a range of light meals too under $10. You may also like to enjoy wandering the gardens and the gift shop before you go.
