Playgrounds don’t get much more peaceful than Subiaco Common Play Space. As you play in the shade you can hear the water in the stream flowing down to the big lake at the other end of the park – this is one of those parks where you can play the day away and forget about all your worries as you soak in the tranquillity.
There is plenty of free parking in the street. Just note parking is only 2 hours Monday to Sunday, 8am – 9pm. You can choose from several entrances to access the park. The playground is located at the Juniper Bank way end of the park, an kids can enter the park down a slide at the far end of the park. There are plenty of sloped paths to enter the park so it’s accessible for prams and is a nice park to enjoy a round the lake pram walk.
The playground was opened in late 2017 and is predominantly constructed with wood, rocks and ropes and is located underneath lots of natural shade.
Play features are suited to toddlers up to kids around 10 years of age. Features include a sand play table with funnel surrounded by wooden step blocks and stepping stones. Bring along the spade, bucket and sand pit toys this is a great little spot for some toddler and preschooler sand play.
Also featured is a wooden rope balance challange and a small basket swing.
The main play structure can be accessed via block steps or a fireman’s pole and also features a slide and rope tunnel crawl to get from one fort to the other.
Make sure you don’t miss the little cave under the fort.
This is a beautiful park to enjoy a barbeque and run around on the large grassed area. The grassed area is also a dog exercise area so you if you are a fur family this is a great park for everyone.
How cool are these stepping stones in the bubbling brook. Kids can make there way from one side to the other using these blocks. The water is fairly clean and is about ankle deep.
The park also features a large circular grassed area (which is also a dog exercise area) and a nice round the lake walk (approx 500m around).
There are plenty of pathways throughout the park so this is a great park to bring the scooter, small bikes or pram along to get some activity in for the whole family. Be mindful that there are bodies of water throughout this park varying in depth and the with the stepping stones across the stream it may be a good idea to bring spare clothes along. Please also note there are no toilets within the park.
